Service Description

The goal of the Team Compton Combined Martial Arts syllabus is to expose students to the benefits of physical training and to teach a system of Martial Arts that is progressive in its approach to practical self defence at all ranges of Combat. Our system encompasses techniques and ideas from combat sports like Boxing, Muay Thai, BJJ, and Wrestling as well as more self defence / real world Martial Arts where there is no rule set and no referee such as the Filipino Martial Art of Eskrima, there is always an overlap within these areas. For example, a punch in the face remains exactly that, whether the knuckles are covered as in Boxing and Muay Thai or uncovered as they would most likely be in a self defence scenario. The Team Compton Combined Martial Arts System covers 5 main areas or ranges of combat which are; 1. Weapon - this range is taken predominantly from the Filipino Martial Arts of Eskrima de Cuerdas and the Inosanto / Lacoste styles. 2. Kicking - this range is taken largely from the Art of Muay Thai. 3. Punching - taken mainly from Western Boxing. 4. Trapping - is taken mainly from Bruce Lee’s Art of Jun Fan /Jeet Kune Do but also features heavily in the Filipino Martial Arts. 5. Locking and Grappling - come from BJJ, and Jun Fan /Jeet Kune Do. Each Grade has been designed to build off the previous one using a progressive approach to build within the student an understanding of the importance of correct form and technique, for that is the basis of maintaining balance, power and movement which are essential in all forms of self defence and Martial Arts. Concentrating on fundamentals in the earlier levels, but also with an early emphasis on the students using their preferred techniques to develop their own flow between the ranges, encouraging a much more natural arsenal instead of a “one size fit all “approach to learning. The ability to be able to flow naturally between all ranges and reacting with the appropriate technique as a physical confrontation unfolds is seen as paramount and a synergistic approach to learning is a huge part of the Team Compton Combined Martial Arts syllabus as the student progresses through the ranks. The syllabus has been designed by our head coach who has trained in various Martial Arts over the last 35+ years and still trains many National and International champions in Boxing, Muay Thai and MMA.
